great musical MiNDs, theme songs, delicious food, and core team planning

  • admin

The MiND Study core team recently had a team planning meeting, to discuss our timelines, risk management plans, give feedback and review how we’ve all being going and how we think MiND is doing, to chart how we’re going to achieve our ambitious goals, and finally to do lots of blue-sky dreaming.

So as you can tell, a lot of serious business!

Even though we couldn’t meet in person, we were still able to share our love of food, thanks to wonderful catering and epic coordination from Stef Colella!

As well as enjoying delicious food, we like to have some fun to break up the seriousness a little bit. So of course we all thought about the perfect theme song for The MiND Study, and voted on it. You can see the wonderfully eclectic range of songs below. It was a close one, with Cath’s fabulous (and sneakily campaigned) submission, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds, coming out on top. We think it’s a perfect song, given its hippocampal theme, The MiND Study aiming to transform the care and assessment of people with memory problems, and of course ‘Mind’ being in the artist name! Simple Minds was probably meant to be the band for us – Dhama used their song “Alive and Kicking” to kick off a musically punny slide for his roadshow presentation on MiND, when we went live and started recruiting.

You can check out our playlists on Spotify and Youtube.

What’s more, we also discovered that we have an amazing songwriter amongst us – Dennis Velakoulis! We’re blown away by his talent, and hope you enjoy his NfL cover/remix of his favourite song, Blue Monday, as much as we do.

The core team, along with our incredible range of national and international collaborators, has come a long way and achieved so much in a relatively short period of time, (and despite the challenges of a global pandemic). There is so much to be proud of. We closed our meeting energised, looking forward to the future with even more excitement and optimism.

If you have any song recommendations, or puns, or just want to join the fun, we’d love to hear from you!
